Ann Hallman of Gulfport, MS died August 24, 2010 in Bay St Louis, MS.
Ann was born as 'Betsy Ann', on October 5, 1926 in Glendale, AZ. Her father was James Coil Jenkins and her mother Nettie Roarke Jenkins.
Ann attended college in Arizona and California, where she pursued various career opportunities. She was a meteorologist with the Weather Bureau and attained her private pilot's license.
She then followed her husband's career in the Army to Texas and Indiana, upon his discharge the family returned to Arizona. When Sidney's career as a Pilot with TWA took the family to Ethiopia for 7 years, Ann worked for the Peace Corps and the US MAAG Installation.
The family moved back to the states in 1972 and chose Mississippi as their home. In Mississippi, Ann worked for many years in Civil Service with the Naval Construction Battalion Center in Gulfport. She retired from PSD Gulfport, with 39 years of service in 1999.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Sidney R. Hallman, Jr.
Ann is survived by her son S. Robert (Donna) Hallman and daughters Sydney (Frankie) Saucier, Leslie (Richard) Chapman, and Lauren (Charles) Barnes, Sr. Her grandchildren are Justin (Nicole) Hallman, Melanie Lyon, Kristina Schuler, Christina (Michael) Herrmann ,JR, Nicholas Saucier, Charles Barnes, Jr., Stephen Barnes, and Dana Chapman. Her great-grandchildren are Blaine and Sydney Herrmann, and Jacob Hallman.
For the last year of her life Ann lived at Dunbar Village in Bay St. Louis, Mississippi. The family would like to express their most sincere gratitude to the staff of 'Azalea Place' at Dunbar Village. They cared for her and made her feel at home. Also a special thanks to Hancock Medical for their care & compassion during this difficult time.
The funeral service will be held on Friday, August 27, 2010, at 6:00PM at RIEMANN FAMILY FUNERAL HOME, 11280 Three Rivers Rd., Gulfport. Visitation will be one hour prior to servce.
In lieu of flowers, the family prefers donations be made to Humane Society of South Mississippi.
