Angela Catherine Bowell passed away peacefully on Thursday, July 6, 2023, at the age of 53, with friends and family by her side.
Born on February 1, 1970, in Roanoke, VA, she was the daughter of Charlotte Oliver (John) and Dal Davidson.
She was known for her kindness, warmth, love of life and strong devotion to her family, friends and community. She graduated from Long Beach High School in 1988 and has continued to organize class reunions and memorials for lost classmates.
Following high school, Angela attended The University of Southern Mississippi in Hattiesburg earning a bachelors degree in Business Management. She used this degree in her work for several businesses, ultimately serving as Business Manager of Quality Engineering Services, INC starting in 2007. She also worked as a Functional Management Consultant for the Judge Group auditing for FEMA.
Angela enjoyed innumerable vacations and Disney trips with friends and family. She was very involved in her children’s plethora of school activities and sports organizations working as president of booster clubs. She enjoyed spending her free time in her craft room creating a variety of decorations for her favorite holidays. Angela frequently spent Sundays in New Orleans with her mother attending their favorite Broadway musicals. Additionally, she was an avid Harry Styles fan and spent time traveling with her daughter, Madison, to see him in concert.
Angela dedicated her spare time giving back to her community through her position on the Board of Directors for the Long Beach Chamber of Commerce planning events including a 5K run, Kite Fest and Touch-A-Truck for the city. She was also a member of the St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic Church community. Angela enjoyed spending time with friends during Bunco and trivia nights with her Smarty Pints group.
In addition to her father, Angela was preceded in death by her beloved grandmother, Nell Fountain.
Angela is survived by her children, Brandon (Caty) Bowell and Madison Bowell; her future grandson, Luca Bowell; her parents, John and Charlotte Oliver; her siblings, Melissa Murdock, Jessica Oliver, Amanda (Don) Boudreaux and Suzanne (Michael) Heath; her companion of 16 years, Loren Newman; as well as many aunts, uncles and cousins. She is also survived by her pups, Leia, Mia and Obi; as well as her grandpups, Loki and Echo.
The family would like to extend thanks for the care from Deaconess Home Health as well as the doctors and nurses from Singing River Gulfport. They would like to express gratitude especially to the ICU staff who cared for her the last several weeks. The Family would also like to thank all of her friends who stood by her side throughout her life and extended continuous support and love.
In lieu of flowers, Angela’s family requests donations be sent to Massachusetts General Calciphylaxis Research Program at giving.massgeneral.org or to The Chamber of Commerce of Long Beach Scholarship Fund.
Visitation will be on Tuesday, July 11, 2023, from 12 pm - 2 pm at St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic Church, 720 E Beach Blvd, Long Beach. A prayer service will be at 2 pm in the church. A reception will be held in the St. Thomas Community Center following the prayer service.
