Amelia Ann Phillips Jermyn, age 89, a resident of Gulfport, MS passed away Wednesday, November 14, 2007 in Gulfport.
Mrs. Jermyn was a lifelong resident of Gulfport and Handsboro. She was a sales associate at McCrorys Variety, Butlers Shoes, and Gayfers. She was a longtime member of St. James and St. John Catholic Church. She was a member of Altar Society, Legion of Mary, Eucharist Minister, American Legion Joe Graham #119 Auxiliary and Gold Star Mothers at the American Legion. Amelia was a talented artist in any medium she choose, such as ceramics, oils, acrylics, china and tole painting as well as an exceptional seamstress. She delighted in creating beautiful clothes for her precious granddaughters, who were the light of her life.
Mrs. Jermyn is preceded in death by her parents Frank and Emma Phillips; her sister, Nell Macklin; her brothers, Roger, Clarence, Lawrence, and Forrest Phillips; and her son Captain Bobby Ray Jermyn, U.S. Army.
She is survived by her loving husband of 68 years, Robert Jermyn of Gulfport; her son Thomas Jermyn and his wife Linda of Gulfport; two grandchildren, Debra Biggs and husband Huntley, Jr. of Gulfport, Rebecca Graves and husband Brian of Mobile, AL; two great-grandchildren, Sydney and Thomas Biggs; two nieces, Mary Louise Minchew of Biloxi and Mildred Phillips of Wiggins; and other great nieces and nephews.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be Saturday, November 17, 2007 at St. James Catholic Church at 11:00 a.m. where friends may call from 10 a.m. until Mass. Interment will follow at Evergreen Gardens in Gulfport. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to St. Vincent de Paul Society of St. James Catholic Church, 366 Cowan Road, Gulfport, MS 39507.
