Alvin C. Strickland

Alvin C. Strickland, Sr., age 75, passed away September 8, 2012 in Lake Charles, LA.
He was born June 20, 1937 in Handsboro, MS. Alvin served his country in the United States Navy, was a lifelong resident of Gulfport, and was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and great grandfather.
Mr. Strickland was preceded in death by his parents, Rainey Strickland and Verna Mae Wade Strickland Creel; and his sister, Peggy Ramm.
Alvin is survived by his wife, Amanda J. Strickland of Lake Charles, LA; son, Alvin C. Strickland, Jr. and his wife, Jennifer of Lake Charles, LA; daughter, Lynn Terrell and her husband James of Gulfport; sister, Ora Mae Robinson and her husband Bill; brothers, Rueben ""Pete"" Creel and his wife Althea, and Archie ""Joe"" Creel and his wife Jan; four grandchildren, Derek Hardison, Thomas Tucker, Sarah Harrison, and Adam Wade Strickland; one great granddaughter; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
A visitation for family and friends will be held Tuesday, September 11, 2012 from 7:00 to 9:00 pm at RIEMANN FAMILY FUNERAL HOME, 11280 Three Rivers Road, Gulfport. There will be a final visitation at 9:00 am on Wednesday, September 12, 2012 with services beginning at 10:00 am and a procession to the Biloxi National Cemetery for burial with military honors.
