Alvin Smith

Alvin Smith, age 76, passed away Tuesday, June 20, 2017.
Alvin was a devoted family man and friend who loved spending time with his family. He was a very hard worker in the construction industry. He owned and operated Smith Construction for over 40 years. He was an avid horseman that enjoyed the horse racing industry and also ran and operated Oak Downs Race Track in Pearl River and Rocky Hill Downs in Hancock County. He was a member of the Biloxi River Baptist Church.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Allen and Annie Pearl Smith; his brothers, Herbert and James "Smitty" Smith; and his son, Alvin James Smith.
Alvin is survived by his wife of 55 years, Katherine Smith; his children, Kathy (Bryan) Miller, Alvin (Kelli) Smith, Jr., Gloria "Sissy" (Perry) Young, Louis James (Chasity) Smith and Ashlee (Donathon) Necaise; his grandchildren, Ryan Young, Kasey Smith, Alvin "Beau" Smith III, Brock Young, Danielle Miller, Whitney Smith, Mary Miller and Dylan Smith; his great-grandchildren, Wyatt, Kylee, Graysee Pearl, McKinlee, Ayden, Addyson, Ambrie, Presleigh, Holdyn, Brycn, Brody, Brynn, and Perry Vance; his brothers, Allen (Lora) Smith, Louis W. (Loretta) Smith and Bobby Ray (Debbie) Smith; along with numerous nieces and nephews.
A funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, June 24, 2017 at RIEMANN FAMILY FUNERAL HOME, 11280 Three Rivers Road, Gulfport with a visitation for family and friends beginning at 11:00 a.m. Burial will follow in Finley Cemetery.
