Alvin "Rock" Rance Favre

d. April 22, 2025

Long Beach

Alvin Rance “Rock” Favre, beloved brother, uncle, brother-in-law, and friend, passed away peacefully on April 22, 2025, in Gulfport, MS at the age of 76 after a courageous battle with Leukemia.

Rock was a man of few words, but his quiet strength and gentle presence spoke louder than any speech ever could. He was never married and had no children of his own, but he was a devoted and deeply loved uncle to many nieces and nephews. His dry wit, subtle wisdom, and unique sense of humor made him a treasured part of every family gathering. Often slipping in and out unnoticed, his presence brought a calm and steady joy to those around him. He was the “Special” family member whose love ran deep, and whose loyalty and kindness left an unforgettable mark on every heart.

He found joy in the simple pleasures of life – fishing, shooting his gun, driving his truck, and playing with his cat Mimi. These quiet pastimes were reflections of a life well lived in peace, contentment, and authenticity. To know Rock was to know a man who valued simplicity, who lived with humility, and who gave love freely, even if he didn’t always say it out loud.

Rock is preceded in death by his parents, Alvin and Mary Favre; a brother, Irvin “Butch” Favre; and a sister, Karen “Kay Kay” Favre. He is survived by his sister, Janet Favre Peterson; a brother, Gerald “Jim” Favre; a sister-in-law, Bonita Favre; his nieces and nephews, Jan Peterson Currie (Brian), Brandi Favre, Scott Favre (Natasha), Brett Favre (Deanna), Jeff Favre, David Peterson (Christy), and Neil Favre (Amy); as well as many great and great-great-nieces and nephews who adored him.

The family would like to extend heartfelt thanks to Dr. Hightower and the staff of Hospice Canal Rest Home – especially his nurses – for their compassionate care and support during Rock’s final days.

Rock will be remembered for his quiet loyalty, gentle soul, and the steady love he gave to those closest to him. Though he may have preferred the background, his legacy shines brightly in the hearts of those who knew him. The world would be a better place if we all had a little more “Rock” in us.

Rest in peace, Rock! You will always be loved and deeply missed.
