Alvin George Miller, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and military veteran, passed away on Monday, March 18, 2024, at the Biloxi VA Medical Center, Biloxi, Mississippi. He was a native and longtime resident of Mobile, Alabama.
Alvin led a remarkable life dedicated to serving his country and helping others. He honorably served in the U.S. Marine Corps before transitioning to the U.S. Army, where he retired in 1996 with the rank of Sergeant First Class. Throughout his military career, Alvin worked as a paramedic, providing care and support to countless soldiers and their families. His commitment to service was further demonstrated through his involvement in the Army National Guard.
Aside from his military accomplishments, Alvin was an active member of various organizations such as the VFW and the DAV. He had a passion for model trains and was actively involved in the TrainTastic Model Railroad Museum. When he lived in Mobile, he also dedicated his time to the Jaycees organization and also served as an Auxiliary Deputy Sheriff.
Alvin will be deeply missed by his surviving family members, his wife of 48 years, Ester K. Raynor-Miller of Biloxi; daughters, Melanie Miller Tabatt (Doug) of Mobile, Alabama, and Karie Miller Read (Scott) of Lucedale, Mississippi; two granddaughters, Carley Read and Emily Read Hoyt (Trey); grandson, Mason Tabatt; sister, Judy Briggs (Roger) of Jonesboro, Tennessee; and uncle, Theodore "Junebug" Miller of Erwin, Tennessee.
He was preceded in death by his parents, George Alvin Miller and Stella Louise Stevens Miller; brothers, Roy Miller and Allen Miller; and sister, Janice Miller.
A funeral service to honor and celebrate Alvin's life will be held on Friday, March 22, 2024. The funeral procession will leave from Riemann Family Funeral Home, 274 Beauvoir Road, Biloxi at 9:30 AM. The graveside service will be held at Biloxi National Cemetery at 10:00 AM.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to any organization that supports military families.
