Alvin W. Crain, age 74, of Gulfport, died Friday, February 26, 2010 in New Orleans.
Mr. Crain was a native of Tylertown, MS and was a graduate of the University of Mississippi. He retired as a Lt. Col. from the U.S. Army after 37 years. He was then employed as the Chief Civilian Pharmacist at Keesler Medical Center. After retirement, he worked part-time for the Medical Arts Pharmacy and the Oak Place Pharmacy.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Dewitt Edgar Crain, Sr. and Bessie Mae Crain; and his brother, Dewitt Edgar Crain, Jr.
Survivors include his wife of 51 years, Marie Crain; his daughter, Lisa Crain Kersanac and husband, Johnny, all of Gulfport; two brothers, Harold A. Crain and wife, Chris of Jackson and Delos Ray Crain and wife Velma of Metairie; his sister-in-law, Hattie Post of Gulfport; two grandchildren, Rebeckah Kersanac and Klara Kersanac, both of Waveland; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be from 11am to 1pm, Monday, March 1, 2010 at the RIEMANN FAMILY FUNERAL HOME, 274 Beauvoir Road in Biloxi. The funeral service will follow at 1pm in the funeral home chapel. Burial will be at Floral Hills Mausoleum in Gulfport.
Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society or to St. Patrick's Episcopal Church in Long Beach.
