Alva Patterson

Alva Valentina Patterson, age 88 and a resident of Saucier, died on Wednesday, May 7, 2008, in Saucier.
Mrs. Patterson had been a resident of the MS Gulf Coast since 1984 and attended St. John Episcopal Church in Ocean Springs. After retiring from nursing, she was a caregiver for many children, for whom she had a tremendous love for.
Mrs. Patterson was preceded in death by her father, Alva Redmon; her mother, Rhoda Weeks; her son, James Edward Patterson; her foster child, Michael Drinkhard and her brother, Simmons Redmon.
She is survived by her son, Charles, and his wife Jo Ann, Patterson of Montgomery, AL; her sisters, Muriel Knight of Barbados, WI, and Stella Seale of Deltona, FL; her brother, Cecil Redmon of Barbados, WI; her foster children, Joseph C. Toles of Amityville, NY; Gonzales Jones of Freeport, NY, and Curtis R. and his wife Tiffany, Kibler and their son, Curtis R. Kibler, Jr., all of Fort Hood, TX; her caregivers, Tammy and her husband Joe Brister of Gulfport, Jo Ellen Frazier and the staff at Home Away from Home in Saucier, and the staff at Trinity Hospice.
A Service of Remembrance will be held on Monday, May 12, 2008, at 2:00 pm at the Riemann Family Funeral Home, 11280 Three Rivers Road in Gulfport, where friends may visit one hour prior to the service.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions be made to Trinity Hospice, 6819 Washington Avenue, Ocean Springs, MS 39564.
