Mr. Alva Nelson Hicks, Jr., age 89, resident of Biloxi, passed away on Tuesday, January 19, 2010, in Gulfport.
Mr. Hicks was born in West Frankfort, IL to Alva Nelson Hicks, Sr. and Celia Evans Hicks. He served in the United States Air Force during WWII and retired after 22 years of service. He then worked for and retired from the state of Mississippi as a grain inspector. He enjoyed playing golf at Keesler and fishing.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Mary Jane Luker Hicks if Biloxi; children, Martha Ann Harrington (David) of Pass Christian, Jane Hicks of Jackson, and John Hicks of Biloxi.
A bedside service was held Tuesday night at Canon Hospice with family by his side.
