Alton Donald Farmer, Sr, age 84, of Gulfport, passed away on December 17, 2024.

He was preceded in death by his parents, D.D. Farmer, Sr. and Edna Richards Farmer; step-mother, Clara Farmer; brothers, D.D. Farmer, Jr., Holly Farmer, James "Bill" Farmer, and Will Earl Farmer.

Alton is survived by his loving wife of 47 years, Linda Carolyn Farmer; children, Alton (Donnie) Farmer, Jr, Phyllis McShane (Pat), Curtis Farmer (Valarie), and Trey Cowan; siblings, Malcolm (Doris Ann) Farmer, Dale (Cheryl) Farmer, and Gale (Chris) Farmer; grandchildren, Patrick McShane III, Sean (Shawna) McShane, Jackson Adam Farmer, John David Farmer, Cassie (Chris) Jenkins, Alexis, Ian, Alex, and Evans; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Alton Donald Farmer, Sr., a beloved figure in the community and dedicated family man, passed away on December 17, 2024, at the age of 84. He leaves behind a legacy defined by his generous spirit and unwavering commitment to his career and family.

During his impressive 42-year career in the grocery industry, Alton served proudly as a Produce Manager, showcasing his expertise and passion for quality produce. He retired from Alpha Beta in California and returned to the Gulf Coast to be with family and friends.

Beyond his professional achievements, Alton cherished spending time with his family and friends. His love for sports was evident, as he often shared engaging conversations about basketball and football with his brothers, sons, son-in-law, and friends. Barbecuing on weekends was an event he looked forward to, accompanied by storytelling that transported everyone back to the good old days, leaving invaluable memories etched in the hearts of his loved ones.

A visitation will be on Friday, December 27, 2024, from 9:00 am - 10:00 am at the Riemann Family Funeral Home, 11280 Three Rivers Road, Gulfport. The funeral service will be at 10:00 am in the funeral home chapel. Interment will be in Coalville Cemetery.

The family would like to thank the nurses at Memorial Hospital CHF Clinic, especially Jody and Renee. He loved his nurses and he lovingly referred to them as his girls.
