Alsey Lee ""Kelly"" Plaswirth III, 64, passed away on Tuesday, May 5, 2009 in Gulfport.
Kelly was born in New Orleans, LA to Elvira Tennent and Lt. Col. Alsey Lee Plaswirth, Jr. on July 21, 1944. Growing up as an Air Force child, he moved to Enid, Oklahoma, Dover, Delaware, and Misawa, Japan. He graduated from Misawa American High School in 1963. While in high school he was known for being in plays and writing skits. He then studied and earned a degree in Dramatic Arts from the Pasaden Playhouse Jr. College in 1965 in Pasadena, CA. After receiving his degree, he returned to New Orleans and worked at D.H. Holmes Department store where he met and married Diane Rollo a year later. Afterward, he worked at the Federal Reserve Bank of Atlanta, New Orleans Branch as the Cafeteria Coordinator for 22 years. While there he upgraded the food system and was known for his wonderful signature dishes. Later, he took early retirement to help his brother manage an Exxon Shop and Save station and a Tobacco Discount House in Gulfport, MS for 15 years. When both buildings were destroyed due to the road being widened, he became employed as a Player Development Rep at The Grand Casino in Biloxi, MS for 4 years. When Hurricane Katrina destroyed The Grand, he was hired by word of mouth at the IP Casino Resort Spa as a Player Development Rep for 3 years. He was awarded Associate of the Month at both casinos.
Kelly was preceded in death by his parents, Lee and Jo Plaswirth.
He is survived by his wife of 41 years, Diane Rollo Plaswirth, his son, Lee Plaswirth, his daughters, Gabrielle Plaswirth and Jamie Catherine Plaswirth; his brother, R.J. """"Butch"""" Plaswirth; his sister, D.K. """"Debbie"""" Caroon; nephews; nieces; and many other loving relatives, friends and fellow associates.
The funeral service will be held on Friday, May 8, 2009 at 5:00 PM at the RIEMANN FAMILY FUNERAL HOME, 274 Beauvoir Rd, Biloxi, where family and friends may visit from 4:00 PM until service time. Burial will be held at a later date.
