Alice Mae Allen, age 88 and a native of Long Beach, MS, passed away peacefully on October 4, 2024, in Gulfport, MS. Born on February 26,1936 Alice was a cherished mother, grandmother, and sister, and lived a life filled with love, creativity, and unwavering dedication to her family.
Alice devoted herself entirely to her role as a homemaker, a vocation she embraced with grace and pride. She nurtured her children, Andy and Melissa, with the same care she gave to every stitch she crocheted and every card she played. Through the years, her home was a sanctuary of love, laughter, and warmth. Her proudest accomplishments were undoubtedly her children and her beloved granddaughter, Kelsey, whose presence brought her immense joy.
An avid reader, Alice found solace in the pages of books, where stories transported her to distant worlds. She enjoyed the challenge and satisfaction of working on jigsaw puzzles, often accompanied by family members who delighted in her enthusiasm. Whether it was gathering around a table for a spirited game of cards or sharing stories about the past, those moments spent with her loved ones were treasures she held dear.
Alice’s legacy is woven through her family—a tapestry made vibrant by the countless memories they created together. She leaves behind her son Andy Lewis, her daughter Melissa Lewis, her granddaughter Kelsey Lewis, and numerous nieces and nephews who were enriched by her kindness and generosity.
She is reunited in spirit with her parents, Henry Aaron Allen, Sr. and Alma Melissa Bond Allen, and her beloved siblings: sisters Margaret Juanita Allen Hammons, Norma Jean Allen Collins, Shirley Ann Allen Cuevas, and brothers Henry Aaron Allen, Jr., Robert M. Allen, Sr., Gerald E. "Jerry" Allen, Sr., and James Richard Allen, Sr. Their memories live on in the stories shared by those who remain.
Alice Mae Allen will be deeply missed. Her love touched the lives of many, and her spirit will continue to inspire those fortunate enough to have known her. As we remember her gentle heart and the countless ways she brought joy to our lives, let us carry forward her legacy of love, compassion, and family.
