Alfred J. """"Al"""" Richter, age 84, of Gulfport passed away Saturday, April 5, 2008 in Gulfport.
Mr. Richter was born in Biloxi and was a graduate of Biloxi High School and the College of Mortuary Science in St. Louis, MO. He was a long time member of the Kiwanis Club where he was a Hixson Fellow. He was also a member of the National Funeral Directors Association and the First United Methodist Church in Gulfport. He retired as General Manager of Riemann Funeral Home in 1992. He received a """"50 year of dedicated service"""" award from the Mississippi Funeral Directors Association. Mr. Richter proudly served his country in the United States Navy in the Pacific during World War II.
He is preceded in death by his mother, Margaret Krohn Richter Bradford; his father, Alfred J. Richter; his step-father, Floyd Bradford, his brother, Jimmy Bradford; his sisters Margaret Richter McDonald, and Mary Bradford O'Bannon.
Survivors include his wife, Mary Elizabeth Betbeze Richter; his son, Alfred J. Richter, Jr. and his wife Michelle of Tavares, FL; his daughter Elizabeth Richter Hoskin and her husband Robert of Wiggins, MS; his son, Dr. Michael B. Farnell, Sr. and his wife Ann of Rochester, MN; his daughter Diane Farnell Kaminsky and her husband Alan of Atlanta, GA; nine grandchildren; eleven great-grandchildren; his sister, Sarah Bradford Tobiason and her husband Rolf of Phoenix, AZ; and many nieces and nephews

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, April 9, 2008 at the First United Methodist Church of Gulfport at 2:00 p.m. with visitation two hours prior to services. Interment will follow at Southern Memorial Park in Biloxi. The RIEMANN FAMILY FUNERAL HOME, 11280 Three Rivers Rd., Gulfport, is in charge of arrangements.
