Albertine """"Birdie"""" Hamann, age 85 and a resident of Wiggins, died on Monday, August 17, 2009, in Wiggins.
Birdie was a lifelong resident of the MS Gulf Coast and was a member of Woolmarket Baptist Church. She was previously employed as a cook with the CPO Club at the Seabee Base in Gulfport, and was """"Worker of the Year"""" in 1999 at the former Lady Luck Casino in Biloxi.
Mrs. Hamann was preceded in death by her parents, Rufus & Eddie Edwards; her husband, William J. Hamann; her granddaughter, Ann Marie Taylor Flemming and two sisters.
She is survived by her children, David Hamann (Retired MS Highway Patrol) of Gulfport, Artis Hamann (Retired U.S. Air Force) of San Antonio, TX, Doris Hamann O'Neill of Batesville, AR, Debbie Hamann Flake, and Frank Hamann both of Wiggins; her two sisters, Kathleen Potts of Aynor, SC and Pearl Pennison of Myrtle Beach, SC; 12 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held on Thursday, August 20, 2009, at 1:30 p.m. at the Riemann Family Funeral Home, 11280 Three Rivers Road in Gulfport, where friends may visit one hour prior to the service.
