Agricole "Carl" Chastant

Agricole ""Carl"" Chastant, Jr., age 56, of Gulfport, passed away on Saturday, December 25, 2010. He was born in Bogalousa, LA, on November 6, 1954, but made his life and home in Gulfport, MS.
He was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force at Travis Air Force Base in CA. He worked in the A/C and refrigeration field for the past 35 years. He worked at McDaniels Refrigeration, Garden Park Hospital, Geiger A/C & Refrigeration, Harrison County Schools, Gulf Coast Medical Center, and lastly, Biloxi Regional Hospital, where he was maintenance engineer. He was known as one of the best A/C men on the coast and he loved trying to figure out how to fix something. His favorite thing was to watch the Saints, and of course, his greatest joy came from them winning the Super Bowl. After the Saints his love was softball. He and his wife ran their own co-ed and men's teams for 10 years. Together, they earned many trophies and plaques, most of them for 3-D Glass (Toby).
Carl was preceded in death by his parents, Agricole Carl Chastant Sr., and Genevieve Alma Smith.
He is survived by his wife of 25 years, Evelyn Elaine ""Red"" Chastant; daughter, Tiffaney Renae Byrd of Gulfport; sister, Rebecca Jean Wiles of Gulfport; brother, Harry Steven Chastant of CA; niece, Trisha Rae Wiles of Gulfport; nephew, Adam Wiles of Gulfport; great-nephew, little Adam; and a great niece, Isabella.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, December 30, 2010, from 6-9 PM at RIEMANN FAMILY FUNERAL HOME, 11280 Three Rivers Rd., Gulfport.
The funeral service will be held on Sunday, January 2, 2011, in the funeral home chapel at 1:00 PM.
Burial with military honors will be at Ponemah Cemetery in Bogalusa, where he will be buried in his family plot.
He will be deeply missed by his family and close friends.
