A.D. Taylor, age 90, of Long Beach, passed away on February 10, 2015.
He was preceded in death by his wife Marjorie Rose Taylor, a sister, Virginia Dell Taylor, 2 brothers, John Ervin Taylor, Jr., and Robert Taylor.
Survivors include his 5 children, Chris (Charlie) Taylor, Mark (Theresa) Taylor, Rebecca (Elmer) Mullins, Michael Taylor, and Maria (Clint) Chapman, a sister, Barbara (Norman) Martin, 10 grandchildren, Christopher Taylor, Cari (Nick) Fowler, Merideth Taylor, Mike (Amanda) Taylor, Jason (Nicole) Taylor, Amanda (Chris) Forehand, Meghan (Richard) Gale, Ashley Mullins, Kody Ladner, and Austin Dedeaux, 6 great-grandchildren, Jacob Taylor, Aiden Taylor, Matthew Forehand, Bentley Taylor, Cohen Fowler, and Grayson Fowler and numerous other relatives and friends.
Mr. Taylor was a native of Leoma, TN and served in the U.S. Navy during WWII. He retired from H.J. Heinz Co. after 21 years, Humphreys Clower for 15 years, and then a bus driver for Long Beach Schools for 15 years. He was a member of St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic Church, the Knights of Columbus Council 4898 in Long Beach, and the VFW Post 3937, Long Beach. Mr. Taylor loved spending time with his family and he and his late wife, Marjorie Rose, helped form the youth girls softball league in Long Beach. He loved hockey, the Long Beach community, and Mardi Gras and he was honored in 2014 as the Grand Marshal for the Long Beach Parade.
Visitation will be Thursday, February 12, 2015, from 6 - 8 pm at the RIEMANN FAMILY FUNERAL HOME, 19130 Commission Road, Long Beach. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 am Friday at St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic Church, 720 East Beach Blvd., Long Beach, where friends may visit from 10 - 11 am. Interment will be in Long Beach City Cemetery.
Memorials may be sent to St. Thomas Catholic Church or The National WWII Museum.
