William Dwight "Chico" McGill

January 12, 1951 — September 27, 2013

William Dwight ""Chico"" McGill, 62, of Waldorf, MD, formerly from Pascagoula, MS, passed away on September 27, 2013 in Washington, DC. Born on January 12, 1951, in Leonardtown, MD, he was the son of the late John Robert ""Buck"" McGill and Alberta Mae McGill Hare .
Chico is survived by his children; Tammy Devin of Long Beach MS; Crystal Hermann of Saucier, MS, Meghan Morris, Molly McGill, and Dustin McGill, all of Gulfport, MS; siblings, Clara Miedzinski, Bobby McGill, and Timmy McGill; and 10 grandchildren.
William served in the United States Marine Corps from September 20, 1971 to November 21, 1974. His duty stations included USS Midway, MCAS, Cherry Point, NC, during the Vietnam War. He also earned the Good Conduct Medal and the National Defense Service Medal. William was the Director of Government Employees of the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers. Chico was a member of the Free Masons, IBEW, Local Union 733, Executive Board Member of the MS AFL-CIO, Vice President of the MS Electrical Worker's Association, board Member of the Red Cross, Co-Chairman of the Emerging Issues, Subcommittee for the Federal Advisory Committee on Occupational Safety and Health, Keys Committee of the Metal Trades Department of the AFL-CIO, Co-Founder of the Federal Workers Alliance, and Co-Founder of the United Defense Workers Coalition.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday, October 10, 2013, at Riemann Family Funeral Home, 11280 Three Rivers Road, Gulfport, at 12 o'clock Noon. Friends may visit one hour prior to services. Burial will follow at Riceville Cemetery.
