Major William Andrew Bigler, Jr.,USAF (Retired) age 69, of Diamondhead, passed away on Monday, December 15, 2014, with his loving family by his side, after a long and hard-fought battle with Leukemia.
Mr. Bigler was born in New Orleans to William Andrew and Marie Kay Ruiz Bigler. He graduated from Martin Behrman High School in Algiers and received his Bachelor's Degree from the University of Southwest LA. He retired from the USAF after 20 years after serving from Tokyo to Tampa. During his service he trained and advanced in the field of procurement and earned the AF Outstanding Unit Award as well the AF Organizational Excellence Award among others.
After his military career, Mr. Bigler worked for Martin Thiokol as a Sr. Contract Adminstrator and also as an IT liason with the University of Delaware Continuing Education program. During his career, he was honored to be the Sr. Project Manager for Hubble Telescope Project. His devotion to country led him to be a volunteer with the USO in Gulfport since its creation.
He was an unconditional, avid Saints fan. He enjoyed going on cruises with his wife whom he adored.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
He is survived by his loving wife of 47 years, Linda Bigler of Diamondhead; son, Sean Patrick Bigler (Jeannie) of Diamondhead; brothers, Ray Paul Bigler and Dean Anthony Bigler, both of Indianapolis; his grandsons, Kurtis Andrew Bigler and Sean Patrick Bigler; and his precious granddaughter, Martina del Carmen Bigler.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, December 18, 2014, at RIEMANN FAMILY FUNERAL HOME, 9113 Kiln DeLisle Road, from 5-8pm. Recitation of the Rosary will be at 7pm.
Mass of Christian Burial will be on Friday, December 19, 2014, at St. Ann Catholic Church, Clermont Harbor, at 9am, with visitation 30 minutes prior.
Burial will follow at Biloxi National Cemetery.
