Naomi "GaGa" Merrell Gresham, 82, returned to her heavenly home on June 16, 2017 after a valiant battle with a long illness. Her devotion to her family and her firm belief in God supported her in her struggle and ultimately gave her peace.
Naomi was born to the late Robert and Mary Merrell, a Pentecostal pastor and a homemaker respectively, in Florida on August 11, 1935. She was immersed in the Christian community that would be her lifelong support from an early age. She dedicated her life as a caregiver and her nurturing spirit shone a light on everyone in her life.
Naomi was blessed with a large and loving family. She raised her three children with patience, discipline and humility. From the very beginning, she dedicated her children to God and encouraged them to explore the beauty of the gospels.
Naomi is dearly missed by her loved ones, who celebrate the fact that she is at peace with her creator.
Naomi is survived by her daughters Mary Buffington (Wayne) and Carmel Perez (Albi); her son Wade Boroughs (Michelle); her grandchildren Tom Buffington, Erica Buffington Oborny, Kimberly Boroughs, Jacob Boroughs, Hannah Boroughs, Felizita Perez, AJ Perez, and Jeyco Perez; and her sister, Mary Alice Hatcher. She is preceded in death by her husband Julian Gresham; her parents; her sisters, June Miles, Hazel Gresham, Thelma Merrell, Becky Miles and Nellie Smesta; her brother Bud Merrell; and her granddaughter, Tiffany Boroughs.
Naomi will be buried at the Vancleave Cemetery at a private ceremony. The family gratefully declines flowers and donations, but prayers, condolences and memories are gladly accepted at http://www.riemannfamily.com/obituaries/Naomi-Gresham/
