Mrs. Mary Karen Bovard, age 54, of Vancleave, passed away on December 21, 2015 in Vancleave, MS.
Mary attended the University of South Alabama for two years where she studied nursing. She was a member of Dantzler United Methodist Church, active in the ""Cross and Flame"" choir, received top honors with Girl Scouts, and enjoyed swimming; motorcycling and working with her daughter's dancing activities. She was most recently employed with Ershigs, Grand Bay, AL, where she worked in accounting.
She is preceded in death by her father, Charles Torres; and one sister, Rebecca Grafton.
Her survivors include her husband of 6 years, James Bovard; four sons, Travis G. Nelson (Shea) of Hurley, Adam L. Nelson (Amy) of Vancleave, Cory J. Bovard of Biloxi, Derek S. Bovard (Haley) of Alpharetta, GE; two daughters, Holly P. Nelson of Pascagoula, Stephanie L. Hoffman-Dickerson (Cody) of Biloxi; two grandchildren, Colten G. Nelson of Hurley, Dana N. Nelson of Hurley; her mother, Annette Torres of Moss Point; one brother, Kenneth Torres (Janet S.) of Overland Park, KS; one sister, Janet Ryan (Bill) of Sevierville, TN, and several nieces and nephews.
A ""Celebration of Life"" will be held Saturday, January 9th, 2016 - location and details forthcoming - contact family members. Interment will be at Griffin Point Cemetery following the ""Celebration of Life"".
The family thanks everyone for their support and prayers during the two hard years that she fought this terrible disease. Special thanks are given to Dr. Brian Persing and the wonderful staff at the Ocean Springs Regional Cancer Center. RIEMANN FAMILY FUNERAL HOME, 13872 Lemoyne Blv., at the corner of Washington Ave., Ocean Springs, is serving the family.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the American Cancer Society.
