Joseph Thomas Plummer, Sr., age 63, of Gulfport, passed away on December 6, 2013, surrounded by his loving family
Known as ""Papa Joe"" or ""Mr. Joe"" by family & friends in the community, he was born & raised in Gulfport and graduated from Gulfport East High School in 1968. Joe has been the owner of A-1 Radiator since 1979. He was an active member and regular Greeter at Trinity United Methodist Church in Bayou View. He was known by all as one of the most caring, giving, and honest men of Faith one could ever hope to know. Joe was a loving husband, father, and grandfather, with all of his free time being consumed with his grandchildren and their activities. He was a member of Les Cavaliers Mardi Gras Krewe. Joe was also an active supporter of many tri-county Youth Sports Associations and the Spiders Golf Classic charity.
He was preceded in death by his parents C.M. Plummer, Jr. and Sally Plummer Brewer.
Survivors include his wife of 33 years, Margaret King Plummer, 4 Children, Melissa Plummer Horne & husband Cliff, Joseph T. Plummer, Jr. & wife Alisha, Paul J. Harkins & wife Kelsi, and Matthew T. Harkins & wife Stephanie, 11 beautiful grandchildren whom he adored, and they, in turn, adored their ""Papa Joe"", Thomas Wayne Horne, Laney Elizabeth Horne, Bradleigh Olivia Plummer, Joseph T. ""Bash"" Plummer, III, Laurel Anne Harkins, Mary McKenna Harkins, Lynn Elise Harkins, Holland Rose Harkins, Houston Hartman Harkins, Jackson Frazier Harkins, and Ava Riley Harkins, 4 Brothers, C.M. (Joyce) Plummer, III, Norris (Cynthia) Plummer Michael Plummer, and Ronnie (Stephanie) Plummer, his aunts, Stella Paige, Dixie Schankin, Leona Telek, and Joan Podgorney, and other relatives and numerous friends.
Visitation will be held on Monday, December 9, 2013, from 5 - 8 pm at the Trinity United Methodist Church, Gulfport. The funeral service will begin at 10 am Tuesday in the church sanctuary. Interment will be in Floral Hills Memorial Gardens.
The family prefers memorials be made to Trinity United Methodist Church, Gulfport, Feed My Sheep (Gulfport), or the Spiders Memorial Golf Classic (Gulfport)
