Jerry John Rosetti, age 70, of Gulfport, passed away on Monday February 13th, 2017 in Gulfport, MS.
He was born in Gulfport on October 12th, 1946, was a lifelong resident and served the city in many capacities, both civil and recreational.
Jerry attended Central Elementary School and Gulfport High School. He excelled in several sports while in high school, being named All State and All Big Eight Conference in both baseball and football his senior year. Despite his many individual awards, his most prized athletic accomplishment was being a part of the 1963 Gulfport High School State Champion football team. His football accolades garnered a scholarship offer from Mississippi State University, which he gladly accepted. He was a four year letter winner for the Bulldogs and graduated in 1969 with a Bachelor of Science degree.
He spent two years serving his country in the Mississippi Air National Guard as a Military Policeman following his college graduation. He then enrolled in Mississippi College School of Law where he received a Juris Doctorate Law degree in 1974. He was admitted to the Mississippi Bar in 1975 and began a law practice that would span forty plus years.
He was very active in his early adult life with the Gulfport Jaycees as well as the City and County in several appointed positions. His favorite past time was coaching children. He mentored many young people, coaching the St. James Elementary football teams and Tri State Brick and Tile T-Ball teams over 15 plus years. He loved coaching and had a penchant for giving kids on his teams silly nicknames. His boisterous laugh and sense of humor was always a part of everything he did.
He was preceded in death by his father, Oscar Benjamin (Scotty) Rosetti, his mother Hazel Rester Lofton, and his stepmother Gladys Rosetti.
He is survived by his brother Scotty Rester Rosetti and his wife Denise; his children Jason O. Rosetti, DDS, and Jordyn Rosetti-O'Mara and her spouse Stephen; his girlfriend of 19 years, Valerie Furst; the mother of his children, Cathy Oser Godard; his grandchildren Chandler Grace Wheeler, Bernard Alphonse Favret IV, William Cannon Favret, and Kayla Alexis Cook.
