Howard H. Kapp, age 90, of Long Beach, passed away on Friday, April 15, 2016 in Gulfport, MS.
Howard was preceded in death by his parents, John and Gladys Kapp; a son, Charles M. Kapp; a brother, Warren Kapp; and a sister, Louise Watkins.
He leaves in his memory his loving wife of 63 years, Sallie Kuhn Kapp of Long Beach; a daughter, Darlene Wixon and her husband, Mike, of Pascagoula; sons, Glen Kapp, and Richard Kapp, both of Long Beach; his sister, Louvenia Barrentine of Norman, OK; brothers, Evan Kapp and William Kapp, both of Long Beach; grandchildren, Ginger Seaton and her husband, Ryan, of Slidell, and Jill Becker and her husband, Jared of Pascagoula; and great grandchildren, Audrey Becker and Eli Seaton.
He served in the United States Navy in WWII where he was stationed aboard the USS Hancock and fought in the Pacific Theater. At the signing of the Peace Treaty with Japan, he was aboard the USS Hancock in Tokyo Bay providing support and protection for those representing the United States. He was the recipient of Victory Ribbon, American Area Ribbon, Philippine Liberation (2 Stars), Asiatic Pacific Ribbon (3 Stars), and commended by Captain R.T. Hickey for meritorious performance. He later reenlisted in the Navy and served in the Korean War.
Howard was a Charter Member of the Long Beach Yacht Club, served as its Commodore twice, and was considered the Patriarch of the club. He also served as a Charter Member of the Joppa Temple A.A.O.N.M.S. and was a member of Southern Star Lodge 500 in Long Beach.
He was of Baptist faith. He was master plumber and pipefitter with Local 568 on the Coast. Prior to that, he worked for Holiday Inns of America. He was an avid fisherman, shrimper, and hunter.

The funeral service will be held on Tuesday, April 19, 2016 at 2:00 PM at RIEMANN FAMILY FUNERAL HOME, 19130 Commission Road, Long Beach with a visitation for family and friends from Noon until the service. Burial with military honors and Masonic Rites will follow at Long Beach City Cemetery.
