Grace Allyn Langston Ladner, 52, died Sunday, December 16, 2012 in Gulfport, MS.
Born and raised in Gulfport, Ms. Ladner graduated from Gulfport High School in 1977 and received an Associate of Arts in Journalism from Pearl River Community College in 1980. A devoted mother first, Ms. Ladner was also a talented floral designer who began her career at Three Sisters Florist in Gulfport in 1975. Throughout her nearly 40 years of work in the floral industry she held positions in New Orleans, LA, Hattiesburg, and Vancouver, WA as well as Beau Rivage in Biloxi and Forget Me Not Florist in Gulfport. Additionally she did freelance floral design for many of the Gulf Coast's top event planners. Ms. Ladner was an active member of the Gulfport West Side Community Association and the Historical Society of Gulfport. She enjoyed music, gardening, crafts and kayaking. Strong in her Christian faith, Ms. Ladner lived each day according to her mantra ""Carpe Diem,"" and will forever be remembered for her warm smile and kind heart.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Harry Allen and Janette Langston. She is survived by her children, Sheri Ladner of Brooklyn, NY and Andrew Ladner of Nashville, TN; father of her children, D.C. Ladner of Gulfport; brothers, Glen (and Janet) Langston of Valley Springs, CA and Larry Langston of Saucier; her beloved pets Lola, Bella, and Miss Blackie; and many cousins, nephews, nieces and friends.
The visitation will be held on Friday, December 21, 2012 from 12:30 - 2:00PM at the First United Methodist Church, Long Beach followed by the funeral service at 2:00PM in the church sanctuary. Burial will follow the service at Gulf Pines Memorial Gardens, Long Beach. Memorials may be sent to First United Methodist Church, 204 Church Ave., Long Beach, MS 39560. Riemann Family Funeral Home, Long Beach is in charge of arrangements. Tributes may be shared with the family at www.riemannfamily.com.
