Allen Smith, Jr.

Rev. Allen Smith, Jr., age 73 of Gulfport, passed away on Friday, July 17, 2020. He was born on September 27, 1946 to Allen Sr. and Annie Pearl Smith. Brother Allen was a native of Orange Grove, MS and had been a resident of Brooklyn, MS since 2007.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and four brothers, James “Smitty” Smith (Maria), Alvin Smith, Sr. (Kathy), Louis Smith (Tutti) and Herbert E. Smith.

Brother Allen is survived by his beloved wife of 53 years, who he adored, Lora Smith; his children, Darrel Smith, Deanna Williamson, and Tiffany Smith; his grandchildren, Daysha Smith, Dustin Kees, Dadron Smith, Daralyn Smith, and Hannah Kees; his great grandchildren, McKenzie Atkinson, Paysleigh White, and Stella Atkinson; his brother, Bobby Ray Smith (Debbie); and many nieces and nephews.

He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, friend, and pastor to so many. Brother Allen dedicated his life to his church and the people of the church became his family too. He was a good listener, leader, and mentor. Anyone he came in contact with was forced to admire him. He will sadly be missed by all.

A funeral service will be held at 2:00 PM, on Thursday, July 23, 2020, at Biloxi River Baptist Church, Gulfport, with a visitation for family and friends from 1:00 PM until the service. Interment will follow at Coalville Cemetery.
